Stratos III underway!
We have just started to get things moving again; Ben is busy soldering important parts to the circuit board! we are planning to have various sensors and might even try to take pictures of the balloon bursting. As well as all this we are trying to keep up with news on [url=http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/msl/index.html]Curiosity
Stratos 3 - More news
Sorry we haven't been updating the website but a lot of the updaters, including me have been working on our CREST awards (science award). Ben managed to get Stratos 3 to 2nd place in the CREST fair, very respectable in my opinion. It will be a while before we launch beacuse we've got to make sure the payload and all the sensors work otherwise it will have been a complete waste of time. After we've tested over the summer, we'll carry on in earnest with all the advertising and all the rest of that to make Stratos 3 really big project.
Exciting News - Stratos 3
Kesgrave High School Space Club is proud to present Project Stratos III. This will invovle the launching of a payload with scientific experiments on it. We hope to have a data logger and various sensors looking at a wide variety of different things.
Launch Date - Thursday 30th June
For those who haven't already been informed, the official launch of our balloon is definitely going to take place on Thursday, 30th June 2011 on the day of the N.U.T. Strike. This means that no lessons will be missed, hopefully causing a minimum of inconviences in terms of schoolwork.
For those who are attending the launch, you need to be at Kesgrave High School by 7.30am, from where we will drive up to Cambridge in the minibus. If you are not attending, please do view the live streaming of the launch by clicking the "Predicted Launch" icon at the top of this page.
If you have any questions or queries, please see Mr. Green or Jonathan Howard.
This Week...26th May 2011
This week Stratos is looking pretty good. Soon, we will be getting some Stratos hoodies, with the Stratos logo and the KHS logo on them. Space Club members should have these after 1/2 term. Also, the payload team have been busy beavering away with polystyrene and hot glue guns to give us a good payload, in which we will place the UV filter in after the 1/2 term. Finally, we should get some photos in the Evening Star soon, so watch out for them.
This Week....19th May 2011
Stratos is having a very good time at the moment. We have had huge levels of success at the primary schools. Also, BT have chased up Trackafone to see if we can have the state-of-the-art tracking device within the next few weeks to ensure it's ready for launch day. The video that Cameron george designed looks very good and it on this website under vLog. Finally, we have got a quote for Stratos hoodies with the KHS and Stratos II logo.
Primary School Presentations
We have now completed both of our presentations and they have both been recieved very well, with lots of really good and intelligent questions being asked by the students. they have really got engaged in the project and have already posted on this website.
Also, we enjoyed the experience of reaching out to younger children about Stratos and answering their questions. this was a throughouly fantastic experience and went amazingly well.
Thursday 19th May
I, Matt Menzies, will be attending this thursday, so i do want to have the weight of the payload sorted out!
Targets for Thursday 19th May
